Описание: COLUMBUS (Chris Vanocur/Dawn Faugl) -- Red light traffic cameras went on trial Wednesday before Ohio's highest court. At issue, is whether Toledo has the power to use them. But this case could potentially affect all of Ohio.Big Ohio cities use surveillance cameras to enforce traffic laws. But many motorists don't like these cameras or their traffic tickets. So, Wednesday, Ohio's Supreme Court was asked to red light the red light cameras.Andrew Mayle, the attorney challenging the red light cameras told ABC 6, "These cameras are run by a private company. So, they can effectively have private police forces and regulate any sort of conduct."Critics say red light cameras are unconstitutional, denying drivers a chance to defend themselves in court. But supporters argue the cameras help enforce traffic laws and allow cops to stop crime elsewhere. The judges took the matter under advisement. But later, the lawyer challenging red light cameras appeared confident he had beaten "Big Brother." Mayle said, "It's just complete totalitarian city government basically." He then added it's like life in George Orwell's, "1984," a book about an all-knowing, all-seeing government.
