Sheriff’s Office responds to flooding in Clackamas County; assists with evacuations and rescues

Since Thursday, December 18, 2025, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office has responded to multiple flooding concerns and evacuation efforts across the county following several flood warnings for area rivers.

Evacuation notices began around 10:20 p.m. Thursday in south Clackamas County, including the areas of Dickey Prairie, Shady Dell, and Molalla Forest Road. Additional evacuation notices, including several Level 3 evacuations, continued through approximately 3:30 a.m. Friday. These included east county locations such as Tranquility Lane, Creekside Lane, S Feldheimer Road and S Pioneer Crossing Lane, and Paradise Point. In Happy Valley, the Carver Mobile Home Ranch was also evacuated.

In total, approximately 300 residences were evacuated in Clackamas County. Sheriff’s Office personnel, including 30 Search and Rescue volunteers, seven SAR coordinators, and deputies from the Marine Unit, assisted with door-to-door notifications in affected areas. Additional deputies also patrolled evacuated neighborhoods.

The Sheriff’s Office has also been involved in several water rescues. On Friday, December 19, 2025, at approximately 8:10 a.m., members of the Clackamas County Water Rescue Consortium responded to a vehicle stuck in floodwaters from the Molalla River along S Holmes Road, near Highway 211 and S Macksburg Road. Crews initially used ropes to provide life preservers to the six occupants, two adults and four children. The family was then rescued one by one using ropes and small rafts to ferry them to safety. All occupants were safely returned to dry ground by approximately 10:00 a.m.

The Clackamas County Water Rescue Consortium includes the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Clackamas Fire, Lake Oswego Fire Department, and Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue.
