An event of extraordinary dramatic intensity, whose text allowed Telemann to create arias of true grandeur!

It depicts the desperate flight of a queen who wants to save her youngest child from the murderous madness of the king, the child's father.
It is the moment when, cornered on a cliff overlooking the sea, she throws herself into it.
She and her child are saved by the Nereids and then admitted to Olympus to ensure their salvation.
This work, written at the end of his life—but he was never old !—has aptly been nicknamed Telemann's "calling card" marking the beginning of the coming Classical period.

Evènement d'une intensité dramatique extraordinaire, dont le texte a permis à Télémann de créer des airs d'une réelle grandeur !
Il dépeint la fuite éperdue d'un Reine qui veut soustraire son dernier enfant
à la folie meurtrière du Roi, père de l'enfant.
Il s'agit de l'instant où acculée sur une falaise surplombant la mer, elle se
précipite dans les eaux.
Elle est sauvée, ainsi que son enfant, par les Néréides puis admise à l'Olympe pour assurer leur salut..

Cette oeuvre de "fin de vie" - mais il n'a jamais été vieux ! - a justement été surnommée la "carte de visite" de Télémann à la porte d'entrée du Classicisme à venir...
