Prodigal is the fourth album by Puerto Rican Progressive Metal band Avandra showcasing a next step in their musical evolution. Telling the story of a young child that is forced into the machinations of war and the horrible consequences it can cause. In a 64 minute whirlwind of metallic intensity and progressive intricacy, the band showcases both their skills as players, but above all as songwriters, delivering songs that will stick with those who are open to it.

The album was produced by the band with singer/guitarist Christian Ayala taking the mixing responsibilities, creating an album that has a fresh and different sound then their previous releases but also enough recognizable elements to make it distinctly Avandra. Returning to help Avandra out is synth wizard Vikram Shankar (Silent Skies, Redemption, Threads of Fate) who adds an additional layer of color to the music. And one of the tracks on this record features guest vocals by David Fremberg known for his expressive vocals in Andromeda.

The story of Prodigal and the music held within are a journey to behold and it shows clearly that Avandra are continuously developing their sounds, skills and style to bring the emotion within their music across properly.
