She has a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology and a Post-doc in Ophthalmology from Northeastern University and The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine respectively. She has been in this industry for 13 years and has extensive experience as a research scientist, her specialization is as a vision scientist. The podcast started with the expert on how she studied the visual consequences of the elderly. She made a transition from vision scientist to medical writing and guiding or educating people. The way she chose a path and made the decision at the early stage of her career between the actual work and educating someone is what she put first priority. A clear goal is prominent and keeps you motivated, she explained that she liked educating more than the actual work of what she studied. Publication planning is a must in medical affairs as it conveys a cohesive story, it is the sub-industry to the pharmaceutical industry that does the organizational and practical work of shaping pharmaceutical companies' data and turning it into medical journal articles. Its main purpose is to create and communicate scientific information to support the marketing of products. The industry needs a communication strategy as well, as per the expert if the publication planning is at top-level then the communication strategy falls into place for the companies. She also talked about social listening and the trends that drug companies might benefit from for example what is the latest news does the "kidney world" has, this social listening will help in publication planning for the pharma or drug companies.
