“Not funny…” German Envoy slams Der Spiegel cartoon years after NYT apologised for cartoon on ISRO

Описание: A ‘distasteful’ cartoon by a German magazine is in the eye of the storm for mocking India after it overtook China in population. The cartoon by Der Spiegel depicted an overcrowded Indian train with people sitting on top holding the tricolour. However, German Ambassador to India Philipp Ackermann was quick to condemn ‘inappropriate’ cartoon in the publication. Not only did Ambassador Philipp Ackermann lambasted the cartoon, he also highlighted India’s growth story. This is not the first time a publication from the West has drew India’s ire over a cartoon. In 2014, the New York Times apologised for a cartoon on India's Mars Mission following readers' complaints. As India became the most populous country in the world, China also took a racist dig at the country. Chinese Foreign Ministry made a derogatory remark about India and said that “quality matters over quantity”. “Size matters, but what matters more is talent source,” said China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson.
