Former BBC Royal correspondent Michael Cole says the reason Princess Kate isn’t accompanying her husband Prince William in New York is “very simple”.
Mr Cole said the family has a “strict” rule of trying to have at least one parent at home when their children return from school.
“They’ve got fantastically busy schedules, but they try very, very hard wherever possible to have one of them at least at home,” he told Sky News host Paul Murray.
“That’s a good idea – we don’t like the idea of latchkey kids.
“I think that’s to be commended.”
