That’s what Katie Burrell found out during her trip across the pond last winter. In this seven-part series, Canada’s favorite leisure athlete dives into the culture and explores seven distinct areas: Paznaun-Ischgl, Arlberg, Sölden, Kitzbühel, SkiWelt, Zell am See and Schladming.

Grab the family because in this episode, our lens shifts to SkiWelt Area. The massive piste-skiing paradise spans nine villages and two valleys, featuring over 174 miles of trails. What began as a community project to connect through skiing has turned into a modern, family-friendly resort. While much of Austria is known for its freeride terrain, SkiWelt is where you go to unwind and take in the joys of food and friends in between laps.
