My first train catches of 2026 took place in Perry, Oklahoma, a small town with a big rail future.
This video features multiple freight trains, including intermodal traffic, a BNSF “tri-clops”, KCS power, an H-1 locomotive, and two CSX units — all rolling past the historic Perry train station.
Perry isn’t just a railfanning stop, it’s a station with potential. This location is expected to play a role in the future northern expansion of Amtrak’s Heartland Flyer, making these scenes a snapshot of freight rail today on a line that could soon host passenger service once again.
From modern intermodal to legacy paint and foreign power, this is a fun start to the railfanning year— and a look at what’s moving through Oklahoma now, and what might be coming next.
