Cooling & Canning Blanched Corn 2020

Описание: During the pandemic of 2020 we were on lock down with Ashton due to his low immunity. I started a garden to pass the time, and Ashton fell in love with helping me water, harvest, and take care of it. He loved helping me in the kitchen and we discovered that he has a talent for cooking and preserving foods! He has always loved to put toys and objects In buckets, bowls, and containers since he was little bitty. So when he found that he could help by pouring ingredients into bowls.. he fell in love! This has been an amazing way to foster something he loves into amazing life and math skills. This was an unexpected discovery last year, and you would not believe the memories and fun it blessed us with especially during a time such as a pandemic. It was a Godsend and blessing for us. His abilities and skills are growing like crazy. I blanched the corn and then placed it in a sink full of ice to stop the cooking process. This is him inspecting the corn after it cooled, and then placing it out on the counter to air dry. He decided over and over .. nope.. it wasn't quite ready, and he'd throw it back in and do it all over again. He even pulled down the spray nozzle and rinsed the corn off like we did after we shucked it to get all the corn silk off. He loved this, and I think he would have done this all day if we could have. He helped pressure can the corn in mason jars after I cut some off the cob, and he helped freeze some. Prepping the mason jars was a whole other cute adventure too. He earned the nickname "My Little Sunshine Face" just hours after he was born when he smiled his first contagious smile. This past year he adopted a new nickname.. "Lil' Chef Sunshine!" He brings so much sunshine to our lives! I plan to share the videos of our adventures through 2020. I hope it encourages families, especially with children with special needs, to help take what your child loves and foster it. It reveals beautiful gifts, abilities, and talents. It also blesses with memories to be cherished forever.
