One person has reportedly died and another left in a critical condition after they were struck by lightening in Gauteng. Last night's incident has been announced in a tweet by regional forecaster, Gauteng weather, who said the pair was hit while in Kempton Park. Parts of the province have been rocked by sometimes violent storms over the past couple of weeks. Ekurhuleni and Joburg emergency services are on high alert for more possible flooding, after large swamps were reported in most of the East Rand yesterday. Weather officials have taken to social media to warn motorists about flooded roads, particularity on the East Rand on routes including the N12. In Edenvale, Herman Road has also suffered damage with several cars shown submerged in flood water.
Spokesperson for EMS Ekurhuleni, William Ntladi, gives an update on the situation.
