This isn't the Kelvin timeline. This isn't another reboot. This is the gap between Strange New Worlds and the Original Series that fans have wanted for decades. Paul Wesley would continue as young Kirk. Ethan Peck as Spock. The Strange New Worlds creators say this is their dream project and told fans to demand Paramount make it happen.

Star Trek 4 with Chris Pine collapsed after years of failed scripts from Quentin Tarantino, Noah Hawley, and others. The Kelvin timeline made 1.2 billion dollars but Beyond underperformed and the cast got too expensive. Paramount gave up and cancelled everything in 2025.

Year 1 makes more business sense. Lower budget streaming series instead of expensive theatrical film. Existing Strange New Worlds sets save millions. Proven audience already loves this cast. Much cheaper actors than the Kelvin timeline stars.

But Year 1 is not greenlit yet. It is still just a pitch. Paramount has cancelled Star Trek projects for 9 years straight. The studio could easily say no. Even if approved, it would not release until 2028 or 2029.
