"Государственный гимн СССР (State Anthem of the USSR)" is the national anthem of the Soviet Union created in response to the shift in Soviet ideology from Workers' Internationalism to Soviet Nationalism. Under Joseph Stalin, a competition for a new National Anthem was held and many of the proposals were sent to the Ministry of Culture. However, Stalin personally owned the melody which came from Alexander Alexandrov (Александр Александров), Aleksandrov took samples from the song "Hymn of the Bolshevik Party" and "Life Has Become Better". The lyrics for the new national anthem were written by Gabriel Arkadyevich Ureklyan (Габриэль Аркадьевич Уреклян) and Sergey Vladimirovich Mikhalkov (Сергей Владимирович Михалков). And it was broadcast on New Year's Eve 1944. However, because of the de-Stalinization by Khrushchev. So in 1964, Sergey Mikhalkov wrote the lyrics again on the orders of the Soviet Government with all lyrics redone. Sung by Choir of the Bolshoi Theater of the USSR and State (Хор ГАБТ СССР и Гос. симф. оркестр СССР) And conducted Arvid Jansons (Арвид Янсонс). However, the lyrics completely unused and only a proposal and finally in 1977 new lyrics were introduced using most of the old lyrics with a few changes
