lyrics
I watched the morning light break through the window panes
A thousand times and never felt more afraid
My cracking hands are an act of my failures
My flooded nerves collected all I remember
At the top of the mountain, look down see the city
That’s where I pictured me in my twenties
Now I retreat far from busy streets
Watching the end take the stage right in front of me
It comes in waves and drowns me every time
The thought, the plan, then the lack of action
I dream of death and melt into the floor.
I’m built from loss and love and all things which came before
It breaks me down and bites my tongue in half
I’m lost to passing days and simple distractions
I want to live and feel the bliss again
I’m built from hope and grief and all things discomfort gifts
There is freedom in contentment
There is joy in the insignificant
So I’m grateful to be here as a witness to all
In such a short timeframe no matter how small
Daydream of San Diego swallowing all things
I’d disappear into the sand dunes and palm trees
Find an old forgotten place to get lost in
Disappointing everyone but building a brand new me
Daydream of my home down in Georgia
Getting lost among the switchgrass and pine trees
In front of me I see a sea of red brick homes
And a warm bed that I am lucky to call my own
So I’ll stay here
Bury myself in the Peach State clay
And try not to waste our final days
In some imagined place far away
Soon, this will all be a beautiful dream
Soon will these cherished days wither away
So I’ll let the sun keep breaching the window panes
And save the endless dreaming all for another day
