Hello, and welcome to 80/20's product highlight series. Today, we are going to look at the butt fastener. What makes the butt fastener so popular, is its unmatched strength when it comes to securing two bars end to end. It's available in fractional, metric, and compatible across a wide range of profile series.

Now the butt fastener comes in three parts. You have the cam, the bolt, and finally the threaded cam. Now one thing you want to keep in mind when using the butt fastener is both your bars will need a counterbore machined into them. Now when it comes to installing the butt fastener, it really couldn't be easier. First you're going to take your cam and place the bolt through it. Next, take the threaded cam, and tighten it down onto the bolt, leaving it slightly loose. Next, we are ready for our two machined bars, placing the counterbore services end to end. At this point we'll put the butt fastener in, grab our wrench, and tighten down firmly. Once tightened, we now have a strong, secure, vibration-proof connection, good for any load-bearing application.
