Kyiv suburb heavily damaged in Russian attack on Ukraine | ABS-CBN News

Описание: Russia launched 50 missiles and 297 drones in overnight attacks against Ukraine, Ukraine’s air force said in a post on the Telegram messaging app on Sunday (February 22).

Air defense units shot down or neutralized 33 missiles and 274 drones, the post added.

At least one person was killed and five were injured in the Kyiv region, with damage reported across five districts where more than a dozen houses were hit, Regional Governor Mykola Kalashnyk said on Telegram.

At least two buildings were heavily damaged in Sofiivska Borshchahivka, a suburb of Kyiv, as seen by a Reuters witness. Many homes had their windows blown out.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said that Moscow "continues to invest in strikes more than in diplomacy". There was no immediate comment from Russia.

The United States has been trying to broker a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine, but progress has been halting, with Russia demanding Ukraine withdraw from parts of the eastern Donbas region it still controls, an idea Kyiv has rejected.
