VLOG 105: Salmon Creek Falls (Big Sur, CA)

Описание: This week we're enjoying one of Big Sur's beautiful waterfalls. Salmon Creek Falls flows just north of Ragged Point, nestled at the edge of the Santa Lucia Mountain Range in Los Padres National Forest.

Salmon Creek Falls crashes down over 120 feet into a large open pool. The mostly shaded trail to the lower falls is less than 1/2 a mile with just 100 feet in elevation gain. Don’t let the minimal distance fool you, because while you can practically hear the falls all along your journey, the last tenth of a mile to reach the waters edge requires significant scrambling/bouldering.

I’ve long enjoyed Salmon Creek Falls, but I never posted about it anywhere because I’ve considered it one of those wonderful quiet gems. However over the last decade this spot has drastically changed from a quiet oasis to a packed, popular spot. After seeing it posted repeatedly online in the past few years I have decided to share my own experience here with a gentle encouragement to those who visit (myself included) to be caring stewards of this land and water. If we, as visitors, do our part to care for the places we love and explore, I know they will be here to delight us for years to come.
