জন্ম ও শৈশব:

সুফিয়া কামাল ১৯১১ সালের ২০ জুন বরিশালের শায়েস্তাবাদে এক অভিজাত মুসলিম পরিবারে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন। তাঁর পিতার নাম ছিলেন সৈয়দ আবদুল বারী এবং মাতার নাম সাবেরা বেগম। তাঁর পরিবারে রক্ষণশীলতার কারণে সুফিয়া কামাল প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক শিক্ষা গ্রহণ করতে পারেননি। তবে বাড়িতেই তিনি বাংলা, উর্দু, আরবি এবং ফারসি ভাষা শিখেন।

সাহিত্যিক জীবনের শুরু:

সুফিয়া কামালের প্রথম কবিতা "বাসন্তী" ১৯২৩ সালে "সওগাত" পত্রিকায় প্রকাশিত হয়। তাঁর লেখা সমাজের নারীদের প্রতি বৈষম্যের বিরুদ্ধে এবং মানবিক মূল্যবোধের পক্ষে শক্তিশালী কণ্ঠস্বর ছিল। তাঁর প্রথম কাব্যগ্রন্থ "সাঁঝের মায়া" ১৯৩৮ সালে প্রকাশিত হয়।

সমাজ সংস্কার ও নারীর অধিকার:

নারীর ক্ষমতায়নে এবং শিক্ষা বিস্তারে সুফিয়া কামাল গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করেন। তিনি বাংলাদেশ মহিলা পরিষদ প্রতিষ্ঠা করেন, যা নারীর অধিকার রক্ষায় এবং সমাজে নারীর অবস্থান উন্নত করতে কাজ করে।

ভাষা আন্দোলন ও মুক্তিযুদ্ধে ভূমিকা:

ভাষা আন্দোলনের সময় তিনি সক্রিয় ভূমিকা পালন করেন। মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সময় তিনি পাকিস্তানি দমন-পীড়নের বিরুদ্ধে দৃঢ় অবস্থান নেন। তিনি মুক্তিযোদ্ধাদের উৎসাহিত করার জন্য কবিতা রচনা ও জনমত তৈরি করেন।

১৯৯৯ সালের ২০ নভেম্বর সুফিয়া কামাল ঢাকায় মৃত্যুবরণ করেন। তিনিই প্রথম বাংলাদেশি নারী, যাঁর মরদেহ রাষ্ট্রীয় মর্যাদায় দাফন করা হয়।

সুফিয়া কামালের জীবন ছিল সাহিত্যের মাধ্যমে মানবতা এবং নারীর স্বাধীনতার প্রতি এক অঙ্গীকার। তাঁর কর্ম ও আদর্শ আজও আমাদের প্রেরণা জোগায়।

Birth and Childhood:

Sufia Kamal was born on June 20, 1911 in an elite Muslim family in Shaistabad, Barisal. His father's name was Syed Abdul Bari and mother's name was Sabera Begum. Due to the conservatism in her family, Sufia Kamal could not pursue formal education. However, he learned Bengali, Urdu, Arabic and Persian at home.

Beginning of Literary Career:

Sufia Kamal's first poem "Basanti" was published in 1923 in the magazine "Saugat". Her writings were a strong voice against discrimination against women in the society and for human values. His first book of poetry "Sanjher Maya" was published in 1938.

Social Reforms and Women's Rights:

Sufia Kamal played an important role in empowering women and spreading education. She founded the Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, which works to protect women's rights and improve the status of women in society.

Role in Language Movement and Liberation War:

He played an active role during the language movement. He took a strong stand against Pakistani oppression during the Liberation War. He composed poetry and created public opinion to encourage freedom fighters.
