Carl Theodor Dreyer (1889-1968) is Danish cinema's most celebrated director and is still, to this day, an inspiration to artists, filmmakers and audiences worldwide.
On the occasion of www.carlthdreyer.dk (English version www.english.carlthdreyer.dk), a comprehensive website on the filmmaker's life and work launched May 2010, the Danish Film Institute spoke with three prominent Danish directors about their relationship to Dreyer:
In this video Christoffer Boe ("Reconstruction", "Everything Will Be Fine") talks about Dreyer's sense of perfection and how his films are like churches -- awe-inspiring and setting an ideal that is grotesquely high.
Carl Theodor Dreyer is the maker of "La Passion de Jeanne d'Arc", "Vampyr", "The Word", "Gertrud" and other classics.
