Описание: Welcome back to another episode of Treat Talk in association with Tyre Market. Today in this episode, we are going to talk about Monsoon Tyre Care for your Two-Wheeler.

Before you ride in the monsoons, your tyres need more than just a pressure check. TVS Eurogrip's Tread Talk covers the 5 things that could save your life in the rain — including one very common tyre myth that could get you killed.

IS IT TRUE THAT SLIGHTLY DEFLATING TYRES IMPROVES GRIP ON WET ROADS?
No — and this is dangerous advice. Under-inflating your tyres in the monsoon affects both handling and braking, leading to an unstable ride. Over-inflating is equally risky: a rounder tyre has a smaller contact patch with the road, increasing your chance of sliding.
The correct answer: always ride at the manufacturer-recommended tyre pressure — in every season.

WHAT IS AQUAPLANING AND HOW DO MOTORCYCLE TYRES PREVENT IT?
Aquaplaning happens when a tyre rides over a layer of water instead of gripping the road — like a flat stone skipping across a water surface. At even moderate speeds, a smooth tyre can glide over water completely, taking away all control from the rider.
This is why tread depth matters in the monsoon. Tyre grooves are specifically designed to channel water away from the centre of the tyre and push it out to the sides — maintaining road contact even in heavy rain.
When your tread depth is too low, this water evacuation fails. That's aquaplaning.

MONSOON TYRE CHECKLIST: 5 THINGS TO CHECK BEFORE YOU RIDE IN RAIN
1. Tyre pressure — set to manufacturer recommended levels (check owner's manual, tank/swingarm sticker, or eurogriptyres.com)
2. Tread depth — use the tread wear indicator (tiny rubber bar inside the grooves); if tread has reached it, replace immediately
3. Sidewall cracks — inspect under good lighting; apply tyre polish to minor cracks to restore rubber elasticity
4. Uneven wear — put bike on centre stand, rotate wheels slowly; if uneven wear is visible, replace tyres — it cannot be fixed
5. Ride slower — potholes and road obstructions are harder to spot in rain

WHAT ARE THE SAFETY INDICATORS THAT YOUR MOTORCYCLE TYRES NEED REPLACEMENT?
Replace your tyres if you find any of these:
Tread depth at or near the tread wear indicator
Multiple or deep cracks on the sidewall
Visible uneven wear on the tyre surface
Note: the number one cause of uneven wear is improper tyre pressure — another reason to keep it correct year-round.

SHOULD I REPLACE MY MOTORCYCLE TYRES BEFORE MONSOON SEASON EVEN IF TREAD LOOKS OKAY?
Yes — tread depth alone is not the only indicator. Check sidewall cracks and uneven wear as well. If there's any season that demands the highest attention to tyre health, it's the monsoons.
