Think you need a $3,000 screen to catch suspended bass? Think again! 🎣 Today we’re going back to basics on Fishin' With The Bobber to show you how to master the "minnow shaking" technique (also known as mid-strolling) using nothing but a spinning rod and a little bit of feel.
Shaking a minnow is a freestyle presentation that depends entirely on your hand-to-rod connection. While most pros are staring at a screen to shake it on sonar, we’re proving that you can still crush largemouth and spotted bass by casting to likely areas like points and working the bait through the middle of the water column.
In this video, you’ll see:
The Rig: Using a light jig head with a 3–4 inch minnow-style bait.
The Technique: How to impart a subtle rolling action without overworking the bait.
Locating Fish: Finding bass around visible cover, bridge pilings, and shade without needing Forward Facing Sonar (FFS).
The Gear: Why a sensitive rod tip is crucial for feeling those light, cold-water bites.
If you're tired of hearing that you need more tech to be a better angler, this one is for you. Hit that Subscribe button and ring the bell so you never miss a trip!
