Karrine Steffans on Tumultuous Past Detailed in New Book

From accumulating all the flashy accouterments that typically accompany fame like luxury vehicles and a nice home nestled within an affluent Los Angeles community, Karrine speaks on losing it all and finding herself back in a "cheap motel."

Attributing her once strained finances to the "men in her life," Karrine says, "I've taken care of a lot of men. It's funny how I will date affluent men but marry broke ones. I like to be in control. I like to be the breadwinner. I like to be the one that makes all the rules."

Perhaps her willingness to be the dominant partner has worked to her detriment. "I like control, when it comes to men, maybe that's the thing. There's so many aspects of affluent men that you can't control, but with a man who doesn't have anything you can control everything about him," says Karrine as she speaks from her personal experiences.

As the clip continues, Karrine explains how her life is reflected in 'Vindicated.' She shares her truth on topics like her first marriage to "Aeron," the pseudonym she gave her first husband in the book, her attempt to bend to societal pressure and get married, and why she was attracted to emotionally abusive and physically violent men who served to eviscerate her self-esteem and self-worth.

"For a long time, until I was about 33, if my relationships were not
violent or in some way diminishing me, it didn't feel natural; it felt wrong," reveals Karrine.
