This'll be familiar territory for some folks that've been involved with miniatures for a while, but if you're encountering a new material for the first time and aren't sure if there's anything different you need to know to paint it? Well... no, not really! All the same, here's some side by side comparisons of the most common materials you're likely to encounter when getting your hands on new miniatures.
One thing I did forget to mention is that plastic glue or 'polystyrene cement' will only work on - you guessed it - plastic. The other three materials mentioned will all require super glue or something similarly universal. Just don't use tape!
