Every time I watch the up animation, there's one detail I can't make sense of. I'm sure most of you haven't even noticed this detail. What if I told you that this detail is actually a detail that shows that Carl didn't even say a word to Ellie. This is a really big claim, but I'm sure that even you thought that something like this could really happen right now. As you know, Carl is an introvert and from the moment he met Ellie as a child, he never spoke a word to her. Ellie is always talking or playing music in the background while we watch these scenes. Even in the scenes with music, we don't see Carl's mouth moving and trying to talk. Maybe some of you won't believe it, but if you watch the first 15 minutes of the film again, you can easily see that Carl doesn't utter a single word. I love up animation, but for the life of me I couldn't figure out the meaning of this. So what do you think is the reason for the animation team to do such a thing?
