A new Resolve poll shows 58% of Australians support significant cuts to immigration, despite net migration actually declining by 17,000 people below government estimates over the past 12 months. Eighty per cent of primary school students are now driven to school with only 3% of junior students using public transport, prompting calls for extended 40km school zones due to traffic safety concerns. A cash-strapped Sydney council is proposing to charge private tutors booking fees to use public library spaces.
