Emmy Barth Maendel is a member of the Fox Hill Bruderhof community, senior archivist for the Bruderhof’s historical archives, and a translator for Plough Publishing House focusing on the writings of Eberhard Arnold. Her research focuses on firsthand Hutterite accounts from the 16th century and draws extensively on primary sources in European archives. She is the author of An Embassy Besieged: The Story of a Christian Community in Nazi Germany and No Lasting Home: A Year in the Paraguayan Wilderness, and co-editor of Jakob Hutter: His Life and Letters (2024).
