India has taken a symbolic step in celebrating its growing achievements in space exploration as the Department of Posts released two commemorative postage stamps and souvenir sheets honouring the progress of India’s human space programme led by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

The stamps were released by K. Prakash, Chief Postmaster General of the Karnataka Postal Circle, in the presence of ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan and Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, the first Indian to reach the International Space Station.

The commemorative issue captures India’s journey in space—from the historic launch of Aryabhata to future ambitions in human spaceflight and orbital infrastructure. It also highlights India’s scientific heritage through symbols like the Jantar Mantar.

One souvenir sheet features the Gaganyaan crew module and India’s future vision of the Bharatiya Antariksha Station, planned as a space station by 2035. The second draws inspiration from the Axiom-4 mission and connects ancient astronomical knowledge with modern space technology.

Group Captain Shukla said space missions have the power to transform nations, while ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan praised the postal department and emphasized astronaut safety as a top priority for future missions.
