Two chief ministers were in office at a same time in UP. in 1998, Governor Romesh Bhandari dismissed Kalyan singh's government in a haphazard manner and had been given oath to Jagdambika Pal as a chief minister of UP. then a minister of dismissed Kalyan singh govt., Narendra singh gaud knocked the door of Allahabad high court. and Allahabad high court revert the governor's decision to dismiss kalyan singh's govt. now Jagdambika Pal reached Supreme court and supreme court directed that 'A composit floor test will occur within 48 hour and winner of this floor test will be Chief minister of UP. during floor test both claiment of CM chair will be treated as CM.' finally Kalyan singh won the floor test and retain CM's chair.
