I set the tones as I like and the volume at 12 o'clock. First, I know my playing limitations. This is about the amp in it's simplest presentation. No pedals, not even the reverb on. Put on your headphones and turn up the volume to get an idea of the sound pressure. This is a long video so I won't feel bad if you skip around.

I start with some All right Now then a little I'm a man to show it's natural ability to feedback on the harmonics. I do some light playing to show the range set at the same volume. Do some simple licks, Bluest Blues chords and so on. At the end, I turn it down to 9 o'clock and play a rhythm pattern I created back in high school and use as an exercise. I speed up a little with each pass. You get to hear how the amp handles fast strummed chords.

The guitar is my 76 Les Paul custom I purchased new. It has an Earvana nut and brass bridge and tail. I recently strung it with GR Pure Blues. I'm not sure how I feel about them. My normal string is D'Addario XL120's. I'm using a tortex purple pick. I normally use a stone or metal pick, but neither sound good with these strings.

Update: I have put up some videos of my band where I'm using the V4 head with my 4X10 bottom of Eminence Copperheads. You can find them by searching youtube for TOMB of RI, Ampeg V4. These will give you a chance to hear the amp actually on the job. I use my Black LP, the blond LP I built in college (the finish is simply butchers wax and 2 Carvin M22 SD) and a Jay Turser 142 (it's a wide body jazz box double cutaway). I use all 3 guitars through out set 3.
