Описание: Our Coimbatore food journey continues with Part 2, diving deeper into neighbourhood snacks, old bakeries, comforting tiffin centres, and stalls that locals swear by. This episode is all about everyday flavours, nostalgia, and the people who keep these food traditions alive. We are guided by our wonderful host Jagdeesh, whose local insight adds heart and context to every stop.

We begin at a traditional tea stall where tea is prepared by mixing a strong decoction with hot milk and a generous layer of milk foam. Paired with it is varkey, a popular multi-layered biscuit that’s crisp and light. Next, we visit Arc Sashi Chaat, a famous local snack point that people flock to for its mushroom fry and masala poori. It’s a lively stop and a favourite among regulars.

At Chanda Soup Stall, we try Mudavattu Kilanga Soup, known for its health benefits and often associated with relief from joint pain. It is simple, earthy, and rooted in local food wisdom.
We then step into NRS Bakery, one of the oldest bakeries in the area, so iconic that the road itself is named after it. Here, we enjoy varkey and cookies with tea, soaking in the nostalgia of an old Coimbatore eatery. From there, we stop at a Poli Cart for a quintessential snack experience. Poli is a stuffed flatbread with either sweet or savoury fillings. We loved the hot and freshly made coconut poli.

At Noruks we came across a wide range of sweets, from traditional favourites to newer fusion varieties, showcasing how local sweet-making continues to evolve. Our pick was the Red Banana Bar, Dates and Grapes Bar and beetroot halwa. Our next stop is A1 Chips, where we try classic banana chips and shakara varatti, crispy, sweet, and perfectly spiced.

We then head to Sri Krishna Tiffin Center, known for its delicious kothu parotta. The layered parotta is shredded on a hot griddle, and the rhythmic sound of the steel sheet hitting the surface is as enticing as the dish itself. At Patti Amma Tiffin Center, we enjoy home-style dishes from a place started by a patti, or grandmother. The food here feels comforting and familiar, with idli and butter sevaiya standing out as highlights.

We end the journey at Ashok Coconut Sarbath. As you enter, you’re greeted by the genial owner and his theatrics as he takes over the counter to prepare his refreshing sarbath.
