Dolphins are Mammals and vertebrate animals constituting the class Mammalia, and characterized by the presence of mammary glands which in females produce milk for feeding their young.

Dolphin Echolocation.
Dolphins have developed the ability to use echolocation, often known as sonar, to help them see better underwater. Scientists believe this ability probably evolved slowly over time. Echolocation allows dolphins to “see" by interpreting the echoes of sound waves that bounce off of objects near them in the water.
Nice, informative. These are not entirely blind. They have receded, very small eyes and degenerated optic nerve that can detect only light and dark. Eyes are not useful in the muddy, murky water of River Indus, their sonar system is one of the most developed in animal kingdom. This was discovered by Dr. Giorgio Pilleri (1925-2018) of Brain Institute of Anatomy, University of Bern, Switzerland, when he came to Pakistan and took a pair of dolphins with him in 1970 for research. He explains this in his book 'The Secrets of the Blind Dolphins', 1980, published by Sindh Wildlife Department. His work led to protection of these unique dolphins.
