Proleveling System by Progress Profiles. This system uses one base placed at the corners of the tiles, rather than having three bases placed around each corner in a running bond pattern or four in a square grid pattern. Employing a system that takes this approach results in cost and time savings, because of the reduced amount of product and time needed to use this system. As shown in the video, a number of tiles are first installed using standard practices placing the bases at each corner as the tile is being installed. Once a sufficient amount of tile has been set, the knobs are attached to the bases and tightened to bring the tiles into plane and reduce any lippage that may be present, if the tiles are made of a delicate material or tile that can be easily scratched the protection bases are put in place before the knobs. This system, like all other leveling system is not a cure for uneven or wavy substrates; it is a tool to help eliminate lippage between tiles. All prep work that is required prior to installing tile is still necessary. Another benefit of this system is that the knobs can be adjusted as needed, or even removed to make any changes to the installed tile if necessary, without losing the base that is already in place. Once the tile has set the knobs can be removed by either hitting them with a rubber mallet or kicking in the direction of the grout line. If a tile floor cannot be finished in a single day, a piece of scrap tile without thinset under it can be placed at the edge of the tile, where the next tile to be installed should be, the bases will be inserted as if the tile is being installed, the knobs will be tightened as usual. In this way the work can continue the next day, the scrap tiles will be removed, and all the needed bases will be in place and the work can continue as usual.
