📖 Surah Al-Qalam – Ayat 17–33
In these verses, Allah tells the story of Ashab al-Jannah (People of the Garden) as a lesson for everyone.
A group of brothers owned a beautiful garden. Their father used to give a portion of the harvest to the poor, but after his death, the sons decided not to give anything in charity. They secretly planned to harvest the crops early in the morning so no poor person could ask for help. They did not say InshaAllah and relied only on their own plan.
During the night, Allah sent a punishment, and the entire garden was destroyed.
When they arrived in the morning, they were shocked. First, they thought they had come to the wrong place, then they realized they had been deprived because of their wrongdoing. The wisest among them reminded the others that he had warned them to remember Allah. They admitted their mistake, repented, and hoped that Allah would give them something better.
Allah concludes that this is how punishment can come in this world, but the punishment of the Hereafter is even greater — if only people understood.
