Hello readers and writers!

Today, we are finally talking about "The Way of Kings" and why you should you read it. This book took me a MINUTE to get get through (nearly 2 months), but man was it worth it. The first 500 pages can be incredibly slow, and it can feel like there isn't much plot, but once you get to the 500/600 page mark, the story gets kicked into overdrive. I was hooked from that point on, and my first Sanderlanche was everything I hoped it would be.

This book is truly something else. The world-building was fantastic, complex, and deep, and for those of you who love that in your fantasy books, you will find enough in this to satiate you for a long, long time.

Kaladin was by far and away my favorite character in this. He had one of the greatest arcs/journey's I've seen in fiction in a while, and he has quickly climbed the ranks in my favorite character list. Dalinar was my second favorite, and Adolin was my third. I thought their stories were good, but nothing that really blew me away. Shallan on the other hand... was not good. At all. I rolled my eyes almost every single time I read her chapters, and they were a complete drag to get through.

I was also very impressed with Sanderson's writing style. I was told that it wasn't great, but I thought it was serviceable. It was clear and got the job done while surprising me a few times with great description and clear/vivid action writing.

Finally, if you are looking for epic fantasy in it's most digestible/epic form, then look no further than "The Way of Kings". This novel is as epic as epic fantasy gets, and it thoroughly blew away my expectations.
