If you have limited supplies, need to keep your cards flat for postage, or simply want the challenge: try a one layer card! I'll show you some tips and ideas for adding detail and interest, without adding additional cardstock layers.
One disclaimer: my cards are technically two layers (a card base and a card front in the same color) for two reasons. First, I prefer the weight of a double layer of cardstock for a more quality feel. Second, having the two layers hides any coloring or embossing from the front panel so the inside of the card is tidy. However, if you prefer, you can make these as truly one layer.
