Hey orchid lovers, I'm so happy to finally present to you my Phalaenopsis schilleriana, a first time bloomer! Used a lot in the creation of hybrids, it grows rather slowly but it's so beautiful and strong that it's dear and near to my heart. Watch how I grow it and tell me about your experiences. :) Happy orchid growing!

FACT CHECK:
1. Turns out that Luzon is a huge island (the world's 15th largest, and the 4th largest by population size), and in fact the biggest of the Philippines: this means that we find several different climate zones on the island, with all sorts of landscapes including huge volcanos.
2. That said, Central Luzon consists of a relatively flat landscape, and data indicates that nighttime temperatures don't drop below 22°C (68°F)-ish. While this is data from low elevations, it is therefore unlikely that Phalaenopsis schilleriana experiences the low temperatures of 16°C (60°F) that I mention in the video - those are my temperatures in my growth space in winter, and highly probably not the ones in its original location. But it grows fine in such lower temperatures if you are diligent about wet-dry cycles.
