Rahul Gandhi shared his experience of being questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), stating that he was investigated for nearly 55 hours. He said,
“They think they summoned me here, but they are mistaken. I came here on my own because I wanted to see who is killing democracy in India.”
Rahul Gandhi also mentioned that there was a lock-up cell at the ED office. Seeing it reminded him of his grandfather Jawaharlal Nehru, who spent 12 years in jail during the freedom struggle. He added,
“At least 10 days I should have been kept there as well.”
His remarks were made in the context of raising concerns over the use of central agencies and the state of democracy in the country.
