TRANSFORMING A VINTAGE ACCURATE REEL INTO A SLOW JIGGING MACHINE
This has been brewing for a very long time. I know these reels have a lot of potential and I have tested them out and they check out - the problem is the handle - they are much too short and the stock ball knob is ok when you are casting, but doesn't really give you a good grip when you are slow jigging - the length of the shaft is much too short and because of this - it made reeling not only uncomfortable and difficult. The obvious solution is to look for a handle that fits the use. I have found a good handle and successfully installed it on to my accurate fury, used for fast jigging and it made the reel a joy to use...the problem started when I tried to put the same handle on the 665 - the hole does not fit the reel - this means that over the years, Accurate has changed the shape of the reel handle hole...the fit is different and the new hole does not fit the old one...I have been looking for a solution for this for a long time - even asked Accurate if they can help and as it turned out, the person I spoke to was just about as useless as a solar powered torch in daylight.

This video shows you how I make the part I made fit into the handle and the reel - This mod is not for the faint of heart as you need to file the gear shaft of the reel down bit by bit until you are able to fit the part.
