After a week stuck working indoors, the sun was out and I needed to get back into the mountains.

Quinn, Sam and I headed up Iwaonupuri for a mellow tour to enjoy the bluebird weather and scout a chute we’ve been eyeing all season. We knew it wasn’t the day to ski it (especially with my knee still recovering), but it was the perfect chance to check the entrance, take some photos, and see what it might take when the conditions finally line up.

The summit was heavily wind-scoured after the last storm, and the chute entry was a little spicier than we’d imagined. Definitely one for another day with more snow.

Instead, we kept things mellow and enjoyed a few short powder turns in the sun on the way back to the car. Nothing crazy, just a reminder of how good it feels to be back in the mountains.

Even on a gentle run I could feel the knee reminding me it’s not fully healed yet… so the plan now is more rest before getting back to skiing properly.
