Mitu Monteiro wins GKA Kitesurf World Cup in Dakhla

Описание: After four days of exciting action in Dakhla/Morocco Mitu Monteiro (CV) won the second stop of the GKA Strapless Kite World Tour. The spot in Western Africa is considered a mecca for kite surfing.

The event went according to formbook until the quarter finals. The eight top riders secured their position in the decisive heats oft he competition. Then Kaehi de Aboitiz caused a big upset by beating the favourite and current world-ranking leader Airton Cozzolino (ITA). And Aboitiz did not stop there: The Australian was in top form and went straight through the semis into the final. There he was up against one of the most experienced riders on the tour: Mitu Monteiro from the Cape Verde Islands. Spectators and judges got to see a breath taking battle between the two and it was a very close heat- this time with the better end for Monteiro. Paulino Pereira (POR) completed the podium when he won against the young Australian James Carew.
