Why Magufuli Bridge is Vital in Southern Tanzania

Описание: A bridge over the Kilombero River was officially opened on May 5, 2018, by Tanzanian President Hon. John Magufuli. The bridge connects the districts of Mahenge and Ifakara in the southern Morogoro area, approximately 400 kilometers west of the commercial center Dar es Salaam.

The 384-meter-long Magufuli Bridge cost TZS 61.1 billion (about USD 27 million). The Tanzanian government used tax payer funds to fund it in full. Engineer Patrick Mfugale, the Chief Executive Officer of Tanzania Road Agency (TANROADS), stated during the inauguration ceremony that the two-way bridge is expected to last for over 120 years, has a pedestrian path, solar lighting, and a capacity to support 180 tonnes on each side.
