TruNC's AI and National Security: Learn from Enterprise, Policy and Academic Leaders

Advances in machine learning, deep learning, and natural language technologies are already reshaping nearly every industry and the field of national security is no exception. Understanding the opportunity to claim economic, information, and military superiority, leaders in China and Russia are emphasizing the centrality of AI in their bids for global leadership. While conversations on national security often take place in Washington, understanding AI’s full impact will require listening to a diverse set of voices across government, academia, and business.

The Truman North Carolina Chapter hosted this event to foster a deep understanding of the power struggle behind AI by attending a panel of knowledgeable and experienced AI pioneers. On March 16, 2021, we explored what has been unfolding at the intersection of AI and national security. We discussed what we can learn from other industries and commercial applications, why AI will define the trajectory of great competition, and how the private and public sector can work together—ensuring new technologies remain authentic to our democratic ideals.
