Maxim Tzekov was born in Austria in 2000 and received his first violin lessons from Dina Schneidermann at the age of 5. He was then a student of Ivan Dimitrov (Vienna Symphony Orchestra) for many years. In 2011, Maxim was selected for the role of the young Paganini in the English-Italian production “The Devil's Violinist“ - with David Garrett in the leading role.
Since 2015 he has been studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in the class of Lieke te Winkel. Further studies led him to Gerhard Schulz, Tanja Becker-Bender, Annette Bik and Sebastian Gürtler. He attended masterclasses with Benjamin Schmid, Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider, Stephan Picard and Ingolf Turban, among others. Maxim is the winner of the 2019 "International Violin Competition Kloster Schöntal", where he also received the Bach Special Prize, as well as winner of the 2021 Stephanie Hohl Competition in Vienna, a prizewinner of the "CIMA International Music Competition" and the renowned youth competition "Musica Juventutis". As soloist and chamber musician, he has been a guest at international concert halls and festivals such as the Musikverein and Konzerthaus Wien, the Theater an der Wien, the Bregenz Festival, the Sofia Music Weeks, the European Musik Festival, and the International Chopin Society. He has performed with the Franz Schmidt Chamber Orchestra, the Camerata Pro Musica Hungarica, the Concertino Ensemble Augsburg, the Camerata UNAB in Chile, the Pioneer Youth Orchestra Sofia and the Classic FM Radio Orchestra Sofia. His chamber music ensembles include the Trio SMS, the "Ensemble Spielraum", together with Ulrich Manafi, Lukas Sternath and Theresa Strasser, and the ensemble "Rondo Solisti". As winner of the International Violin Competition Alberto Lysy 2020, Maxim Tzekov plays a violin by Jean Baptiste Vuillaume from 1829, which is generously loaned to him by the "Association Rencontre Musicale Camerata Lysy".
