Two classroom extensions have been built by Building Contractors, Rosslee Construction, at this local Primary School in Nelson, Lancashire. The extensions were designed by Campbell Driver Partnership, Architects to be eco-friendly as the school is very conscious of its environment, and the school involved the children in learning about the products used. Some of the products used in the build were Second Nature's sheep's wool Thermafleece and Eden bloc insulation board made from recycled carpet. Rosslee Construction are currently working towards ISO14001 Environment accreditation and willingly took on board the Eco Ethos. Rosslee's Site Manager created a Water Harvest System, where all the water for site use was recycled water, as well as using recycled aggregates as hard core and for the concrete. For the main building Porotherm thermal Clay Blocks were used to help retain heat and the Lime Plaster and Lime renders were used as they are breathable, flexible and won't crack. During this school contract our Site Manager, Andrew, gave a Builders Talk to the children and ran a competition to produce a Site Safety Sign.
Please note - the reference to sheeps wool is inaccurate. Sheeps wool was used for insulation in this contract, however the referenced photograph is not.
