Almost 40-50 % sugarcane is kept as ratoon crop in Punjab but it produces 25-30 % less sugarcane than newly planted crop in most cases. In this video, we have guided the farmers to use stubble shaver after harvesting of sugarcane crop. Rotavator may also be used carefully in place of sugarcane stubble shaver in connection with better management of ratoon crop. Stubble shaver does not only increase its ratoonability, but control of insect, disease and weeds is also promoted with this novel implement. Zulfiqar Cheema 0321-1076167, 0342-4291974 is a successful sugarcane grower and he has been using rotavater in place of stubble shaver for better sprouts of ratoon crop. He succeeds to convert his ratoon crop into just like plant crop.
Stubble shaver going to become the essential part of production technology of sugarcane. It converts the ratoon crop of sugarcane into a new healthy crop to make the production higher enough to meet the targets set by the farmers. Use of stubble shaver guarantees the higher yield, growth and development of plants. This technique should be adopted widely to increase the overall yield of ratoon crop of sugarcane to make it more profitable and beneficial for economy of our country.
