At least 10 people have been reported dead in Bengaluru after record-breaking rainfall and a powerful hailstorm struck the city following days of intense heat. Dramatic footage shows heavy rain lashing streets, flooding key areas, and damaging vehicles across India’s tech hub.

According to reports, the storm shattered a 25-year record for the highest single-day April rainfall, with nearly twice the monthly average falling within just a few hours. The sudden weather shift caused widespread disruption and raised concerns about infrastructure resilience.

In one of the deadliest incidents, a compound wall at Bowring Hospital collapsed during the storm, killing seven people, including a six-year-old child, and injuring several others. Additional rain-related incidents across the city have pushed the death toll higher.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences and announced financial assistance for victims’ families and the injured. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert, warning of more thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in the coming days.
