This teaching offers a practical introduction to essential Buddhist principles that support inner clarity, ethical living, and genuine well-being. Rather than approaching Buddhism as a belief system, the emphasis is on understanding the methods the Buddha taught for transforming the mind and responding to life with greater wisdom and compassion.
The session will explore five foundational themes that together form the heart of the Buddhist path.
We begin with the Three Jewels—Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha—which represent the foundation of refuge in Buddhism.
The teaching then introduces the Three Baskets, or Pitaka, which organize the Buddha’s teachings into three collections: discipline (Vinaya), discourses (Sutra), and higher knowledge or philosophy (Abhidharma).
At the heart of Buddhist practice are the Three Trainings: ethical conduct (śīla), mental discipline or meditation (samādhi), and wisdom (prajñā). These trainings work together as a complete path of transformation—supporting stable relationships, a focused and calm mind, and insight into the nature of reality.
The Four Noble Truths provide a clear and compassionate framework for understanding human suffering and its cessation.
Finally, the teaching introduces Bodhicitta—the mind of awakening that seeks enlightenment for the benefit of all beings.
This teaching is suitable for both newcomers and experienced practitioners who wish to reconnect with the foundations of the Buddhist path and learn how these timeless principles can be applied meaningfully in everyday life.
