In a recent game I played against my friend and longtime expert Steve Bush, he made a move near the end of the game that seemed like his best choice by far. Probably 99%, if not more, of other experts would've made the same play.
But it turns out that Steve's play left him vulnerable to a dangerous and almost unfathomable trap that he was lucky to avoid. With certain draws, he could've gotten stuck with an unplayable tile in the endgame, leading to certain defeat.
What makes this position crazy, though, is the tile he'd have gotten stuck with. It wasn't a Q or a V like we see pretty often. It wasn't even something like a G or U which is rarer but not unheard of. It was... a T! Yes, a T! A tile that makes no less than 8 two-letter words and is one of the most flexible consonants in the bag.
How on earth did this happen? You'll have to watch to find out!
