Speaking to military leaders in Saint Petersburg on Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin asserted that the "strategic initiative remains entirely with the Russian Armed Forces."
Putin added that Ukrainian forces are continuing to lose ground, with Russia having "liberated almost five thousand square kilometres of territory - 4,900 square kilometres - and 212 settlements" this year.
