Описание: In this episode of Cultural Currency Podcast, JoePro973 and Swiss sit down with Flames, a former High School All-American out of Newark’s Central Ward whose journey through life, football, and mentorship is a story of resilience and purpose.

After losing his mother early in childhood, Flames grew up navigating life under the guidance of his father—a straight shooter determined to instill discipline and structure. Like many young men facing adversity, Flames pushed back and rebelled early, but athletics eventually became the outlet that changed his trajectory.

His talent on the football field earned him a scholarship to West Virginia State University, an HBCU located in a community where he faced intense culture shock and racism. He later transferred to Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina, but eventually left school early due to homesickness.

Still, football remained a part of his life. Flames went on to play arena football, and eventually transitioned into coaching. Alongside a close friend, he helped lead a Pop Warner team in Philadelphia to back-to-back City Championships in 2015 and 2016, coaching the 115 weight class.

Life shifted once again when his daughter began running track. That moment sparked a deeper calling—dedicating his time to coaching and mentoring youth in inner-city Philadelphia, helping kids develop discipline, confidence, and the belief that their dreams are possible.
